On May 10, 2018 at the Commack Public Library, 18 Hauppauge Road, Commack, the Lighthouse Community Church will host "Town Talks", a public forum designed to assist parents and others in engaging in dialogue about ways to prevent, recognize and respond to sexual abuse among children. The forum starts at 7:30pm. For more information, you can call 917-957-2801.

Upcoming Narcan training: Sen. Phil Boyle, in conjunction with WellLife Network and the Lindenhurst Council on PTAs, will be hosting the training on Wednesday, 2/28/18 from 7pm-9pm at the Albany Avenue Elementary School, 180 Albany Avenue, Lindenhurst, NY. The Suffolk County Police Department in conjunction with the Northport-East Northport Drug and Alcohol Task Force will be presenting E-Cigarettes & Vaping: Tobacco Alternative or New Addiction? The presentation will be held on Wednesday, 2/7/18 at 7pm, Northport High School Auditorium, 154 Laurel Hill Road, Northport, NY.

Suffolk County Legislator Robert Trotta
 is hosting a blood drive on Thursday, Aug. 3, from 1:30pm-7:30pm at the Church of  St. Joseph. Donors receive 2 free Mets tickets. Click here for more information.

Leg. Trotta is also supporting Hungry for Music's ongoing instrument collection for needy children. Read more for information regarding acceptable instruments and where to drop them off.

Suffolk County Department of Health Services is hosting a Narcan training on Monday, July 31st at 6pm. The training will be held at the Office of Health Education, William J. Lindsay  County Complex, 725 Veteran’s Highway, Bldg. C016, Hauppauge. To register, email Wanda Ortiz at wanda.ortiz@suffolkcountyny.gov.

The Town of Smithtown will be hosting a a series of three workshops on study skills for middle school students. The program will be held at the Horizons Center Community Room, 161 East Main Street, Smithtown, NY.  Click here for more information.

Church Unleashed
 will be hosting several events in the month of June. There's a babysitting training on Saturday, 6/3/17 from 9am-4:30pm. The cost is $95 per child. For more information and to register, go to www.mychurchunleashed.tv

On 6/8/17, the Church will be hosting a health seminar. The cost is $5/person and the speaker will be a doctor from Premium Holistic. Check out their community center calendar for additional events throughout the summer-paint nite, zumba class, kids drop off and even a basketball camp!

Horizons Counseling & Education Center & the Smithtown Youth Bureau will be hosting "How to Deal with Anger and Frustration". This free program is designed to help teens ages 14-17 learn coping skills, conflict resolution and more. Starting on Tuesday, 4/18/17 at the Community Room located at 161 E. Main Street, Smithtown. March, 2017
The Northport/East Northport Community Drug and Alcohol Task Force will host a Narcan training on Tuesday, 3/21/17 at the administrative building located at 158 Laurel Avenue, Northport.

The local chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI)  is hosting a free 12 week education program on various mental illnesses and disorders. Classes start Thursday, 3/16/17 at the Northport VA Medical Center. Click here for more information.
